Barcelona Airport Bus: the Aerobus A1

The two prices

Neither is wrong; they buy different things. If your flight and plans are firm, the machine is cheaper. If you are booking weeks ahead and might change dates, the voucher cancels and the ticket does not.

Timetable and stops

Outbound from Terminal 1 the buses run 05:35 to 07:15 every ten minutes, 07:15 to 22:30 every five, 22:30 to 01:05 every ten and 01:05 to 05:35 every twenty. The city-bound route stops at Plaça Espanya, Gran Via-Borrell, Plaça Universitat and Plaça Catalunya.

Going back it starts at Plaça Catalunya, calls at Carrer Sepúlveda and Plaça Espanya, and drops at Terminal 1 on floor 3 then floor 0. The operator asks for arrival fifteen minutes before your chosen departure. Large items — bicycles, surfboards, skis — depend on space, with three per vehicle and one per passenger.

The meeting points used on this site

Most of the tours compared here either collect you from your accommodation or meet within a short metro ride of Plaça Catalunya, where the Aerobus terminates.

Timing the first morning

Tours here depart between 08:00 and 09:45, and most ask you to arrive fifteen minutes early. With the Aerobus running every five minutes from 07:15, a same-morning arrival is possible but tight — a delayed bag makes it impossible.

The better plan for a first day is the Barcelona city tour, which collects from your accommodation at 08:00 and stays inside the city, and leaving the mountain for day two.

Why people buy the voucher

The recurring reason is not price — it is that the mobile voucher is shown directly to the driver with no ticket to exchange at a machine or counter after a flight. Reviewers describe it as convenient and easy, particularly on arrival with luggage and no local currency or contactless set up.

That is worth being precise about, because some reviewers assume the voucher is cheaper than buying locally. It is not: the terminal machine has sold a single for €7.45 and a return for €12.85 since March 2026. What the voucher buys is free cancellation before redemption and 90 days of validity on the return leg.

The one recurring complaint

A small number of reviews describe confusion at the stop itself — staff directing voucher holders to the ticket queue, or inconsistent handling between passengers. It appears to be occasional rather than systemic across 604 reviews and 10,000-plus bookings, but the practical defence is simple: have the voucher open on your phone before you reach the door and board at the front.

The service itself draws no real criticism: 35 minutes, four stops, every five minutes through the day, free WiFi and USB chargers.

Take the Aerobus if

You are landing at Terminal 1, staying near the centre and carrying luggage.

• Terminal 1 — the A1 serves it; Terminal 2 needs the separate A2
• You want Plaça Catalunya, Plaça Universitat, Gran Via-Borrell or Plaça Espanya
• You are landing late or early: it runs every 10 to 20 minutes overnight
• Luggage for your flight travels free
• You want a wheelchair-accessible vehicle

Consider the alternatives if

Your plans are firm and you want the cheapest fare — that is the terminal machine at €7.45. If your accommodation is nowhere near the Aerobus stops, the metro L9 Sud and the R2 Nord rail link both serve the airport and connect elsewhere in the city, at a lower fare but with changes and stairs that are unpleasant with cases.
